Beach Day

I am a week late with this, but excited to share none the less. Sunday night as we were trying to rest, getting excited for our first beach outing since we've moved east, Peanut decided to have a terrible night. This happens just about never so I began to worry we had a very sick boy on our hands. He woke up every 3 hours on the dot and wouldn't sleep without being held for the second half of the night. The mister and I took turns with Rob taking the final long stretch beginning at 4:30am. We all settled in for a viewing of Finding Nemo around 5:45am since none of us were sleeping at this point and Peanut and I promptly passed out while Rob just got more tired and hot holding Peanut and looking at us sleep through the movie. What a night! Peanut woke up all smiles and not sick at all. Oh bother!

At this point, if we were on our own, we would have skipped our beach trip an all taken some good naps, but good thing, the night before, we had coaxed our good friends, A, J, A & G to come with us! And good thing Aunty Katie is living here with us as well so she layered on another helping of motivation to get out exploring. So 7:30am rolled around, our visitors showed up, and on the griddle the promised pancakes went. We then packed up the vehicles and headed to Annapolis! I am always exceptionally surprised at how much gear it takes to tote a 25lb child around town.
We started at the state park on the bay and did a little bit of swimming. It was just nice to sit there and play in the sand and water, and boy was it hot! After that we headed into town for a little sightseeing, a tour around the Naval Academy, and some food. A 6 lb milkshake to be exact. Yes folks, 6! We found Chick and Ruth's Delly on Man vs. Food and decided that we had to try it. I however was not impressed by anything but the size of this particular peanut butter and chocolate shake. It was lacking. Oh well, it was worth a try! At the end of the day our bellies were full, we were all a bit tanner and each and every one of us was ready for a good long sleep. I think I'd call that a successful holiday!
