Soap Box

Saddle up cowpokes, this here post is going to be a wild ride. Sorry y'all for being such a slacker but I've been finding myself to be a bit lazy, under the weather and over scheduled these past couple of weeks. Time to buck up!

1) I had a soap box moment the other day at the post office. Katie and I walked to the counter, handed over our priority mail flat rate box, and were hastily asked if we would like to pay for delivery confirmation. My oh so demure personality immediately wished to reply with the following, "You want me to pay you extra to do your basic job?".  I want to respond like this every time I hear that question. I am glad their is some form of restraint on my mouth once in awhile, however little it may be. Although a few more packages and I might not be singing the same tune. Wish me luck.

2) On a far more positive note, Desmond is walking everywhere. He is up to about 12 steps in a row and when he gets excited he always falls over. Cute...Not so cute: the plate he smashed before dinner tonight by pulling it from the dinner table. He's growing too tall you say? Exactly right! I can't believe it either. It has nothing to do with the fact that maybe we should just all be using plastic plates. : )

3) We house sat/ baby-sat 4 kids while their parents were on a cruise.  We got a taste of our potential future (hopefully the large house will be a part of that future as well as the amount of children). It was a riot. Really. Highlight of the week...The oldest boy (14) was picking on his little brother (9) after church. Suddenly older brother comes running out of the family room holding a very bloody nose, thanks to little brothers fist. Is it bad that we laughed a little bit? Looks like we're stellar baby sitters. We did have a lot of fun with them though and they seemed to have fun as well. I believe we were told, "Our parents should take a trip every year so we can do this again." Ah, high praise!

4)  We celebrated our 3rd anniversary. We ate seafood and talked about how cultured we would have been if we had realized that the symphony we were going to attend afterwards was on Friday night...the night before. So we went home and went to bed early instead. Party Animals!

5) Yes you're right, our Anniversary date actually hasn't occurred yet (it's the 7th) but the reason we celebrated early is because Rob is taking his first ever business trip. He's headed to Troy, NY to do a little college recruiting. I'm guessing they figured they'd send the young attractive guy who has no dirt on the company yet. Or maybe he's just really good at his job. I will never know. I have no idea what he's talking about at dinner as he relates his day. Hopefully my smile and nod is quite convincing, "Wow, that hydrogeologicalnuclearial reactor thingy majig sounds like it's functioning majestically, thanks to your calculations!".  **It really is a great place to work, in case you were wondering.

6) We are house hunting. It is time consuming, exciting, and stressful. Who knew? Oh, right everyone who's already done it before us. I feel like this is the true step to my adulthood. All I keep thinking is, don't mess up. That's a heck of a lot of money! Our real estate agent has been a real doll. Wish I could recommend her to someone but you all live so far away. Stay posted, you'll see the decision in a month or so.

7) And let's end with another soap box. What did you all think of Madonna?! I'll give it two thumbs up out of sheer amazement that, A) she is 53, B) she is 53 wearing thigh high heels, while dirty dancing and only tripped once, C) we made it from Egypt to a HS marching band to a gospel choir in one 10 minute sequence, D) I'm still humming "Like a Prayer". All day actually. Ok, I won't lie. I just watched it again.
