Friday Afternoon Thoughts

Posts without pictures are lame. So I found this stunning picture from a year ago and decided to write about it. This is a post about some things I wish I could do right now if I didn't have a belly with a baby growing inside of it...which there will be a picture of eventually.  Here is my list:
  1. Long bike rides...I can ride for a bit, but this summer has been void of 3 hr Saturday morning jaunts which makes me very sad.
  2. Eat Sushi...Raw fish + growing fetus = BAD, or so the doctor says.
  3. Eat Ice Cream...So this is only relevant to me and not all pregnant women. I happen to have developed a bit of a lactose intolerance during this process. Only 3 1/2 more months till Cold Stone won't know what hit 'em.
  4. Sleep on my Back...whoever made up this sleeping on your left side rule is just plain cruel. I know it probably won't kill me or the child if I do sleep on my back but I am so paranoid about it that I can't fall asleep unless I'm on my side.
  5. Read books on my stomach...I am reading Atlas Shrugged at the moment which takes a fair amount of time and concentration and I can't do it all slouched in an armchair. I have been contemplating cutting a hole in a pool chair for my belly. Thoughts?
  6. Run without almost wetting myself...This really needs no explanation. A couple extra pounds bouncing on your bladder at all times just has certain implications.
  7. Ride the Zipper at the State Fair...This is a once yearly pleasure that will be sorely missed, by all of me except my pocket book. Really, $5 to ride a single ride??
Here is a second list. A list of things I don't miss:
  1. Buttoning my pants...Please people, I'm going to wear this belly band forever! It's just better this way.
  2. Watching my weight...This baby thing takes like a million calories and since my lower abdomen has been my trouble spot for ages it's now not an issue...and I look darn cute in my new swimming suit if I do say so myself.
  3. PMSing...enough said.
Please tell me your lists. I'd love to commiserate and celebrate with all of you. Cheers!

Anna, you crack me up. I'm glad you posted today. And thanks for listening to me whine this afternoon.

Also, I actually don't really post my posts in the wee hours of the morning..it's just Google's automated feature. So I might be setting up my posts for the week on Sunday at 4:30 pm, and I'll want it to post on Friday, so I just change the PM to an AM time and then it looks like I'm the most dedicated blogger on the planet.

    Have a great weekend.

sleeping on your side is a rule? seriously? that is one thing that i will be disregarding during my eventual possible pregnancy.

Like your lists :) I totally agree about the belly band. I still miss them sometimes. . . :) I know someone else already put something on here about ice cream but there was a short time when I couldn't eat ice cream while nursing Katelyn and the best substitute I found was Tempt ice cream made from Hemp milk. You can get it at most Whole Foods type stores. The mint flavor is my favorite. Anyway, I hope you and baby are doing super well!

Anna you are hilarious. I love the lists. As far as sleeping on your side, that was the HARDEST PART for me. I totally was paranoid too, then during delivery I found out that when I was on my left side the chord would wrap around Evelyn and lessen her oxygen, so the whole time I could have slept on my back and it would have been the same. Do whats comfortable to you! Don't worry the joys of babies keep coming..good and bad :)

I love your lists! I HATE sleeping on my side. All night long I roll from one side to the other (and trust me, there is a lot of me to roll over) trying to get comfortable. I also cannot wait to eat cookie dough again. I'll probably make a big batch and eat it all myself. And, I miss leaning over. Every time I try to pick something up I remember that I can't because I have this big belly in the way. So inconvenient. Miss you guys!

ah, love this one... still love those fishies too. haha. i miss: sleeping (at all, it seems), not having sore hips, tasting doughs and batters, my cute jeans (not that i could really fit in them after i married damon). i don't miss: not having to care if my stomach sticks out, having an excuse to be lazy and eat all the time, that time of the month. note. i didn't put sushi in there. why? cause my favorite rolls are eel and eel is cooked in sushi!!! HOOOORRRAAAAYY!!! seriously, go have a caterpillar or dragon roll! we miss you and rob!

    Things I don't like:

-Not being able to sleep on my stomach.
-Having to pee at 3am every night
-Taking my pre-natal vitamin (I don't like taking any pills)
-I dread taking the glucose test I have coming up...

    Things I do like:

-Not watching my weight, esp. since I lost weight at the beginning
    -My face is pretty clear
-Getting away with A LOT since I am pregnant :)

Oh the joys of being pregnant! While I was pregnant I hated having to always sleep on my left side, but I guess I got used to it because now I sleep on my left side probably 90% of the time. Weird.

Oh I wanted to add one more thing. IT DRIVES ME NUTS. I can't believe I left it off the list before.

STUFFY NOSE 24/7. And yes, I pick my nose constantly with no shame because it is the only way i'll be able to breathe. Ever.

Ughh...best of all, when I'm done being pregnant i'll probably have another stuffy nose due to the cold weather.
