Life is happening much faster than I can document it these days. Let's dive right in...Our Peanut has been replaced by a baby elephant. At least he sure is eating like one. This kid downs 8-10oz of milk every feeding and always eats every morsel of solid food in his bowl, even when I think I've made too much. Where does it all go?! Oh and get excited; hopefully I can get a video of him trying a new food sometime. It's hilarious. The fist time it happened he was trying an avocado. He makes this wide mouth frog face with eyes that say, "I don't think I trust you guys...what in the world did you just put in my mouth?". But he always swallows and has ended up liking everything we have given him so far. Anyways, I don't know how he can make that face when this child has been seen with every possible disgusting item in his mouth, including most recently, the hand hold bar on the Metro. I yanked him away the second I realized what he was doing. Blah! This hearty appetite seems to have paid off. At his six month check up we made big progress.
Height: 27" (One inch longer than his Daddy at the same age.)
Weight: 15 lbs. 5 ozs. (Jumped from the 5th percentile to the 10th. What a big kid...ha ha)
On top of that he is crawling. Granted it is a bit of an elementary inch worm like crawl but he is quick. I think all these new foods, in all their pureed glory, have had a bit of a Popeye effect. I put him on the ground one day on the far side of the living room next to his toys while I did some dishes. About five minutes later I'm looking at his little head peeking around the corner into the kitchen. Oh my! Good thing we had just put the child proof hooks on the kitchen cabinets and moved all the books up on the book shelf. We also decided it was time to move the crib down.
Summer activities are in full swing in our household. I recently joined the local Masters swim team. We practice at 5:30am Mon-Thurs. The early hours aren't half as bad as they used to be. Look what a baby does for us! And it works out perfect, Des has been sleeping from 8pm till 7am straight so he's up to eat right as I get home from workout. And speaking of sleeping, these are some of the fun ways baby enjoys his slumber. I believe it is time I invest in some crib bumpers. Oh and the video at the bottom is how he now wakes up. No more tears, just singing. It's wonderful and highly amusing!
We've also been exploring more local sites. We met up with Beau and Mackenzie in Harpers Ferry and did a little hike. It was our first experience with the Appalachian Trail. One of many I'm sure.
We've been blueberry and strawberry picking in German Town.
We've started purchasing and using cloth diapers. It's really not that hard and the colors are fun.
We got to see Uncle David...which was an adventure in itself. We were supposed to meet him in Gaithersburg but ended up in standstill traffic just fifteen minutes from our house. It was two hous before we were able to finally turn around and come home. We come to find out that a gas main broke and they shut down traffic completely, both ways, for at least six hours. Yikes! He was kind enough to come our way two days later.
And we spent another lovely day in DC looking at the art museum. We were staring Rembrandt's and likes straight in the face. It was exciting!
Until we meet again I thought I'd leave you with this fine photo, just for fun. Incredible aim little man! Looks like a giant glowing green booger. How exciting!

I played your video of Des waking up (way cute by the way) and Tina, who was sleeping in the other room, gets up and comes over to where I was sitting with the most quizzical look on her face. Ears high up and head tilting back and forth. You just wait, Tina. Soon we'll have one of those loud things here, too.
