Babymoon

ba.by.moon
-noun
1. Pre-baby vacation for expecting parents

You guessed it...I'M PREGNANT!  January 3rd, 2011 is the scientifically proclaimed "big day". Prayers for a December 31st (or earlier) arrival will be much appreciated for tax purposes. It will be the first grand-child on both sides and I forsee a bit of spoiling in Peanut's future.

As for the babymoon, the proud parents-to-be decided to take a relaxing cruise to Mexico before we remove a solid night's sleep and extra spending money from our list of expectations for the future.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Ok, so let's be honest, I don't really like watching baseball, especially not on TV. I used to work on a baseball field, but I just don't love it.  Here's the thing, I do love the movie The Sandlot, and I do love the sounds of baseball. The crack of the bat on a great hit and the organ playing all of the classic tunes...and there are always really great hot dogs and french fries at games, so count me in. Anyways, we are on this topic because a coworker of mine enlightened me yesterday with the fact that there are more verses to Take me out the Ball Game. It is not just a chorus.  Who knew?! Take a look:

1908 Version
Katie Casey was baseball mad,
Had the fever and had it bad.
Just to root for the home town crew,
Ev'ry sou1
Katie blew.
On a Saturday her young beau
Called to see if she'd like to go
To see a show, but Miss Kate said "No,
I'll tell you what you can do:"

[Chorus] Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.

Katie Casey saw all the games,
Knew the players by their first names.
Told the umpire he was wrong,
All along,
Good and strong.
When the score was just two to two,
Katie Casey knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the gang sing this song:

[repeat Chorus]
